It Begins...

Yesterday we officially began development on the project at work. It was a bit anticlimactic, but my pair and I have both already learned a bunch from each other. I'm excited for what lies ahead.

Dave -

I struggle with the question of 'how much of my faith can I bring into the workplace?' For me, I only offer spritual insight when asked b/c I don't want to offend anyone - or face rejection.

Do you think that XP provides more opportunity for you to share your faith with your co-workers or does it create a larger hurdle due to the importance of the working relationship w/ your pair?

I suppose that even if you don't directly (i.e. verbally) witness to your pair, your faith will shine thru your attitude, work ethic, and your communication with your pair. Thus, you can have a more direct impact on your pair thru XP.

...just a few of my thots...

BTW, redsquirreldesign.com is a well-made site.

Cheech,

I have the same struggle, though I have been encouraged by the opportunities that have unexpectedly arisen during conversations with co-workers. For me, sharing my faith is far easier when I have a meaningful relationship with someone. Due to the practices that XP requires, meaningful relationships are almost unavoidable. Pair Programming and Open Workspace do present some different challenges than the more common isolated, cubicle-bound work environment, but the rewards are amazing.
